Athletics on Sunday: Ansah wins over 200 meters

Owen Ansah won the men’s 200 meters championship title, the actual winner Joshua Hartmann was disqualified.

20.41 seconds was the winning time for Owen Ansah on Sunday (06/26/2022). He could not attack the German record of 20.20 seconds. The actual winner, Joshua Hartmann, was subsequently disqualified. His best time was 20.32 seconds. Second was James Adebola in 20.88 seconds ahead of Kevin Ugo in 21.06 seconds.

Hering with seventh title in a row over 800 meters

Christina Hering has secured the championship title over 800 meters for women. It is the seventh triumph in a row. In 2:00.73 minutes, the Munich resident ran her personal best of the season. Second was Majtie Kolberg from Bad Neunahr-Ahrweiler, around 50 hundredths of a second behind. Third was Lucia Sturm in 2:02.59 minutes.

Tim Holzapfel won the men’s 800 meters in 1:49.25 minutes. Rocco Martin was second, 34 hundredths of a second back. The podium was completed by the real favorite and defending champion Marc Reuther, who is still suffering from the after-effects of a corona infection.

Rebekka Haase won the sprint distance of 200 meters in 23.03 seconds and the best time of the season. Haase had already won silver over half the distance on Saturday.

Surprise over 1,500 meters

There was a small surprise in the men’s 1,500 meters: Germany’s new long-distance hope Mohamed Mohumed had to give way to Marius Probst (3:44.72 min) and the new German champion Christoph Kessler (3:44.64). Fourth was Marius Tortell. Kessler was first subsequently disqualified because he had unfairly secured a place on the final loop. However, he then successfully appealed against the decision.

Hanna Klein won the women’s title over this distance in 4:22.13 minutes ahead of Katharina Trost and Vera Coutellier. Alina Reh won the slightly longer distance of 5,000 meters with 15:21.11 minutes. However, she also benefited from the cancellation of the best German long-distance runner Kontanze Klosterhalfen.

Schwab WINS on the stadium round

Corinna Schwab won the women’s 400 meters in 51.61 seconds ahead of Judith Franzen and Alica Schmidt. Marvin Schlegel was among the men with 45.77 seconds. Second was Patrick Schneider. Bronze went to Manuel Sanders.

Carolina Krafzik managed to win the obstacle distance with 55.73 seconds ahead of Gisele Wender with 55.84 seconds and Eileen Demes, who needed a little more than 56 seconds. In the men’s category, the new German champion Michael Adolf improved his personal best of the season to 51.25 seconds.

Staffel goes to Munich

LG Munich prevailed in the women’s 100-meter relay at the German Championships in Berlin. The quartet, consisting of Viola John, Marina Scherzl, Tina Benzinger and Amelie-Sophie Lederer, was the first to cross the finish line in 44.16 seconds on Sunday (06/26/2022). Behind them came MTG Mannheim in second place with 45.06 seconds. The quartet from Sindelfingen came third with 45.13 seconds.

The 3,000 meter obstacle brought a favorite success: As in 2019, 2020 and 2021, the winner was Karl Bebendorf, who set a new season record of 8:27.61 minutes and was able to break the EM norm of 8:30 minutes. The second Frederik Ruppert also stayed below the mark. Bronze winner Velten Schneider was clearly behind.
