Pole vaulter Armand Duplantis has developed into THE athletics superstar with his achievements in recent years. When the Swede isn’t on the tartan track, he also likes to let it rip. His go-to recipe for this is: beer.

A few weeks ago, athletics giant Armand Duplantis openly and honestly admitted in an interview that when he is not busy with professional obligations, he likes to take a deeper look into the glass and go to parties.

That doesn’t fit the image of an exceptional athlete, but the Swede stands by it. “When I’m free, I’m completely free. Then I don’t do anything, hang out and drink beer,” Duplantis said in the “UNT” interview.

Track and field star Duplantis loves to “party”

“Mondo” justified his statements to the newspaper “Expressen”: “It’s very important to be able to relax. I love partying, hanging out with friends and going dancing. It makes me feel good and I think more athletes need that.”

He doesn’t like the fact that his desire to party has long since become a major issue, but he accepts it. “I don’t always want to talk about it, but at the same time it’s hard because I want to be honest about what I do.”

He also revealed that he has not yet received any really harsh criticism about his leisure activities. After all, he is no longer a teenager who gets excessively and uncontrollably drunk. At the same time he says: Alcohol is not good, but that also applies to other things in life that are fun.

“A lot of people eat cheeseburgers with fries. If you do that all the time, it’s not good, right? That’s why I feel like I can be honest about my outliers,” said the best pole vaulter of all time.
