«I get up early and plan the day. Even if I live in front of the suspended Pordelio cycle-pedestrian path (7.5 kilometers over water, the longest in Europe) on working days I limit myself to contemplating it. I reserve cycling and Nordic walking for the weekend, with my husband».

«I dedicate the first part of the morning to problems of Cavallino Treporti, which stands on a spit of land between the Northern Lagoon of Venice and the Adriatic. We are the open air capital of Europe, with the largest campsite in Europe. Managing tourism development with balance is one of my priorities, between the protection of the territory – lagoon, woodland and agriculture – and of the local community, to ensure adequate services all year round. Then there are the relations with the other ten mayors of the coastal towns in the Veneto region to be taken care ofgathered in the Conference of the Littoral».

11 o’clock

«I coordinate the G20 Beaches, which brings together 20 of the major Italian coastal cities. We have drawn up a bill to obtain the “seaside city status” for seaside communities with a strong tourist vocation, and to optimize administration in favor of the residents. Among the requests we ask that cities that suffer the accordion effect, such as Cavallino Treporti, can allocate at least 50 percent of the tourist tax to non-tourist projects. From 13,500 residents in the summer we pass to 120/130 thousand, the annual presences reach up to 6.5 million overall (there are people who have been coming here for 50 years). We are the sixth tourist resort in Italy after Rome, Milan, Florence, Venice and Rimini».

1 pm

«If I don’t have a business lunch, I take a short break at my desk with a bar or a salad from my husband Manuele’s garden and continue with phone calls and organization. Among other tasks, I promote the Enit Hospitality License: free winter refresher courses, to get to know the area better, open to all citizens».

3 pm

«I move to my law firm in San Donà. I practice family law. I try to be a tool to settle disputes, with a human contribution, from the heart. I have no children, but many grandchildren. I feel very much an “aunt” and this vocation reappears in my profession».

«Back to Cavallino Treporti. In the evening I often participate in events, especially in the summer. I love being among people. I don’t miss for example the Beach on Fire (12 kilometers of fireworks) which this year will be on August 26, or the concerts. Dinners out force me to struggle with diet, but I prefer to dine at home. I like cooking vegetables, like those from our garden, and fresh fish».

It’s time to watch a thriller, maybe a vintage thriller like Alfred Hitchcock’s Rear Window.

“I don’t have much energy left. If I don’t go out, we watch films in English. I like thrillers. Or I read newspapers and magazines.’
