The Füchse Berlin handball players also won their fourth game in the Champions League, but had to tremble until the end.
The Berliners narrowly won against the Romanian series champions Dinamo Bucharest with 32:31 (16:18) on Thursday evening in front of 6,517 spectators in the Max-Schmeling-Halle. This means that the German champions remain leaders in Group A. The best Berlin throwers were the outstanding Mathias Gidsel with eleven goals, as well as Tim Freihöfer and Tobias Grondahl with five goals.
As in the last games, coach Nicolej Krickau had to do without the injured trio Nils Lichtlein, Lukas Herburger and Leo Prantner. His team started strong, defended well and keeper Dejan Milosavljev made a few saves. The Foxes quickly took a 3-0 lead. But the high only lasted for a short time.
Grondahl lets the foxes cheer at the end
Afterwards, the Berliners made a few mistakes and missed too many shots. Bucharest, on the other hand, increasingly found solutions against Berlin’s defense with long attacks. Milosavljev was now barely able to catch a ball. In the 14th minute the Foxes fell behind for the first time (9:10), which then grew to two goals by the break.
As at the start of the game, the Foxes came out of the locker room with a 3-0 run. Now Lasse Ludwig was in the Berlin goal and made three saves. In addition, Gidsel was repeatedly attacked very hard. In the 52nd minute, Robert Militaru saw red. But the Foxes continued to miss too much – including three seven-meter penalties. So we had to tremble until the end. Only after the final siren did Grondahl convert the decisive seven-meter penalty.
