In a time of disruption, Berlin designer William Fan continues to work in his own language.

For his autumn/winter 2022 collection, he used his typical layering, loosening up evening wear with elements from workwear. “Host”, the concept of his collection presented on Tuesday evening at the Berlin Museum for Contemporary Art, is a sequel.

In the past collection “Neigbourhood” neighbors met, now the acquaintances were invited to the table. Inside the Hamburger Bahnhof art museum, the models walked around a long table topped by an oversized light green fluffy tablecloth – almost like a lawn, with garden chairs, stools and designer velvet-covered chairs on either side. Outside and inside come together at William Fan.

Some elements from the collection come from the interior: subtle brocade fabrics and fringes that meander over tops or decorate the collars and hems of coats and trousers. The tailoring speaks a clear language, from tight bolero blazers to elegant suit ensembles. Cargo pants and cozy, olive green coats loosened up the outfits.

Under the white iron beams of the former train station, the designer celebrates the arrival and coming together of people inside and outside – with and through his fashion in the present.
