It is embarrassing and unnecessary that Patty Brard said the word ‘n**kte’ on national television early last week, says TV connoisseur Victor Vlam. “Is this necessary?”
Patty Brard was featured last week as a candidate in the new SBS 6 game show Lettrix, which is already broadcast at six o’clock in the evening. The television diva stood next to presenter Patrick Martens and competed against Gers Pardoel. She had to start by saying five-letter words. “And what does Patty come up with? With ‘fresh’. That’s four letters.”
N**kt
It is obvious that Patty is not too bright, wants to say the notorious TV critic Victor Vlam in The Communicados. “Well, round two was six letter words. A six-letter word that begins with an N. What did she come up with? N**kt. Then I think to myself: Patty, it’s six o’clock in the evening that this program is on the air.”
It is vulgar and unnecessary, says Victor. “Is this really the only word you can think of? The only word is this word? Yes, of course that is really embarrassing.”
Patty did apologize: “I only know very dirty words again. N**kt. I’m sorry. Yes, I can’t say anything either, but it still saves seven points.”
Cheating
Victor states that Patty got off to a really bad start on that game show. “I firmly believe that Patty Brard cheated. Before the commercial break it went very badly and after the commercial break it suddenly went well.”
After the break, Patty suddenly started banging the seven-letter words. “That is of course completely unbelievable. Look, what I think just happened here is that they found out during the break of: she does have a really big backlog. And it is of course better for the game if it is a bit more exciting.”
whispered
Patty just got help, Victor thinks. “As a program, they have an interest in just whispering a few seven-letter words that she can do, for example. Then she may not win, but then she can make it a bit exciting.”
“And of course it’s also like: yes, if she goes off like that, you probably also know that some 23-year-old editor behind the scenes is getting the full brunt of Patty. So those people also have a strong interest in making sure that she comes out well and that she is not damaged by this.”
‘Happens often’
It’s no secret that Victor still has a bone to pick with Patty, but he emphasizes that this is not an implausible theory. “This kind of thing happens more often in games that celebrities participate in.”
He concludes: “If you do blast out the seven-letter words, one to the other, but you’re having trouble with five-letter words… Sorry, I don’t think so.”
