At least two dead and fourteen injured in shooting outside gay nightclub in Oslo Abroad

On the night from Friday to Saturday, around 1.15 am, several shots were fired just outside the London Pub, a gay nightclub in central Oslo. An eyewitness told the Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet that he heard “15 to 20 shots”, which caused panic and people started running. The people stood before the shots were fired in the smoking area just outside the club.

A person was arrested shortly after the incident, police said. Two weapons were found. A reporter from the Norwegian public broadcaster NRK who was on the scene said a man took a weapon from a bag and started firing. The shooter’s motive is not yet known.

Images in Norwegian media show that a large number of police officers and emergency workers are present in the area around the pub. The University Hospital in Oslo has said it is on high alert to provide first aid to victims.

Police in Oslo are considering the possibility that multiple perpetrators are involved in the shooting, police spokesman Tore Barstad told Norwegian media. According to him, there would be three crime scenes: near the London Pub nightclub, in the jazz club Herr Nilsen and at the place of arrest. The clubs are all located in the entertainment district of the Norwegian capital.

The London Pub is a gay nightclub famous in Norway. This weekend Pride will be celebrated in various places in Oslo.
