At least eight dead in Siberia forest fires | Abroad

Three people are said to have died in the village of Talasjanka, including two children. That place is located about 200 kilometers north of the city of Krasnoyarsk. Two people were killed in the village of Nikolsk, 300 kilometers west of Krasnoyarsk. Two other people died on Saturday in a fire in the city of Atshinsk, west of Krasnoyarsk.

The extinguishing work was made more difficult by the high winds, but all fires are now under control, according to authorities. 273 fires were counted in the area. More than five hundred houses were destroyed. Due to the severe forest fires, the region has declared a state of emergency.
