Due to the 25th anniversary of same-sex marriage, the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) conducted research on same-sex couples. In addition to the fact that most gay couples live in Amsterdam, the research also shows that married women divorce more often than other women.
The first three gay marriages were concluded on April 1 at midnight in the council chamber by then mayor Job Cohen. To celebrate the anniversary, Mayor Femke Halsema will also perform three weddings next Wednesday at midnight.
