At least ten people have been killed in the American city of New Orleans after a vehicle drove into a crowd on New Year’s Eve. At least thirty people were also injured, the government of the southern city said on Wednesday morning announced.
The mass collision took place according to CBS News place on Bourbon Street, in the French Quarter. This popular district in the center has many bars with live music, which attracts many visitors, especially around New Year’s Eve.
According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle drove into a crowd of people at high speed, after which the driver came out of the truck and started shooting around him with a firearm. The police also reportedly fired shots.
The perpetrator’s motive is still unclear. Nor is it known whether the perpetrator has now been arrested.
