Asylum seekers are allowed to stay in Farmsum for a year longer. Eemsdelta extends temporary shelter for the second time

In Farmsum, a group of up to 160 asylum seekers may be accommodated for an additional year. The temporary shelter will be extended until December 31, 2023.

The Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (COA) said on Thursday that the municipality of Eemsdelta is cooperating with the extension.

The asylum seekers are accommodated in Farmsum in a hotel for foreign employees. The shelter opened last year. In March, the COA extended the reception at the location until the end of this year, and it is now being extended again.

In Bergen, North Holland, the temporary shelter closes. The 175 residents have been in pavilions on the old grounds of a football club in recent months. They are now going to a new shelter in the parking lot of the Zuiderzee Museum in Enkhuizen.
