Astrid Holleeder is set to receive a full year’s salary from RTL without any obligations, as speculated by television authority Tina Nijkamp. “That’s a nice bonus for her. She’s quite at peace with it,” Nijkamp stated.
Astrid Holleeder’s unexpected good fortune stems from what many perceive as a lack of vision from former RTL chief Peter van der Vorst. Appointing her as a television star with no prior experience led to disappointing results, particularly in her role as a commentator on RTL Tonight, a fact she has openly acknowledged.
Two-Year Contract
Despite her minimal appearances on RTL Tonight, Astrid remained under contract. Tina Nijkamp conjectures that she will continue to receive her salary from RTL for another year without any additional responsibilities.
In a podcast episode of Tina’s TV Update, Nijkamp addressed the situation: “The question is: Is she still being paid by RTL? I think the answer is yes. I suspect she signed a two-year contract and will be compensated until it ends.”
Getting Paid for Nothing?
What explains this scenario? According to Nijkamp, “Most commentators at RTL Tonight signed two-year contracts, so I believe she is on the payroll without needing to do much. Perhaps she might sit for an interview on RTL Boulevard occasionally.”
She added, “I think she is getting paid because she had a positive attitude about her time at RTL. She wasn’t bitter or resentful towards them; rather, she seemed peaceful about the whole situation. So yes, it’s certainly a nice perk for her.”
Backtracking on Critiques
Had RTL Tonight continued longer, it is suggested that the sister of notorious criminal Willem Holleeder would have likely stepped back from her role as a crime commentator herself, according to her statements in De Telegraaf.
Telegraaf reporter Jordi Versteegden chimed in during the podcast Strikt Privé: “That’s just backtracking. She was hardly ever on screen anymore, so the show had already made a decision to reduce her presence regardless.”
