Astrid Holleeder’s expectations were high: the sister of top criminal Willem Holleeder, however, turns out not to be much of a TV personality. “She also doesn’t want to become the new Patty Brard.”
Astrid Holleeder was announced with much fanfare as an interpreter in the talk show RTL Tonight. Her face was revealed in an American way, as if the whole of the Netherlands was concerned with what Willem Holleeder’s sister looked like. Well, we all know what she looks like now, but what a boring talk show announcer she is, say critics.
New Patty
Astrid’s problem is that she is not only a dime a dozen, but also not really an expert. She is not a TV personality, or, as Johan Derksen puts it: “She is a saltbag with blow-dried hair!”
According to Miljuschka Witzenhausen, her mother Astrid has no desire to become a big TV personality. “I think my mother has a lot to give to the world, she is a good lawyer. She can now show her expertise on TV, but she has no ambition to become the next Patty Brard,” she says in the Story.
Impressive
Raymond Mens, one of the stars of Today Inside, understands the criticism of Astrid. He says in the Weekend: “Yes, I find it impressive that she is standing up to all those threats, which also come from her own family. We cannot imagine that.”
He concludes: “It’s very brave that she has also written such beautiful books about it and that she has turned it into something positive, namely that she started working for RTL. That is apart from the fact that you can look critically at: how does she take on that role as an interpreter? But you also have to get into that.”
