It seems that Astrid Holleeder’s TV career was short-lived, because there is little chance that anyone will want to take her over from the RTL Tonight estate. “Everyone was there for themselves. Me, me, me!”
She was announced with incredible fanfare: Astrid Holleeder. At RTL they pretended they had unearthed some kind of TV goddess, but it all turned out to be one big gimmick. It came down to the fact that she could talk passionately about her own family drama, but when it came to the content, she immediately shut down completely.
Damn
TV authority Tina Nijkamp believes that everyone at RTL Tonight overestimated themselves. “At RTL they thought: now we have it! I also remember that before it was launched, I heard from everyone: yes, it will be so cool, it looks so cool! I say: yes, what do I care about what it looks like? It actually looked very ugly! Damn!”
Media journalist Mark Koster agrees with this in the podcast The Media Week: “It was nothing at all! And that Astrid Holleeder was exposed after about three weeks, because she actually only had her family story. Terrible. We sympathize with you.”
“You smelled that!”
TV authority Tina agrees. She is also not impressed with Astrid. “He was only there for himself. Everyone was there for themselves.”
Mark: “And you smelled that.”
Tina: “And you smelled that. That’s where it went wrong.”
Mark: “And that made it loveless.”
Tina: “It just felt very me, me, me. That’s what it felt like.”
Something new
All in all it was a failed project, according to Tina. “What I always find so annoying is that the press release also states: ‘Yes, at least we have tried something new.’ No! They haven’t tried anything new! If you’re going to do something different, it has to be better than what it was and really something new.”
She continues: “This was a magazine from 1990! That’s it! With that GP about hay fever and hormonal problems in women! Why do I care!”
Mark concludes: “Yes, that was at a time when people didn’t have the internet. People can now search for hay fever themselves!”
