“Asteroid City”: Jarvis Cocker & Seu Jorge release song from Wes Anderson film

For his current feature film “Asteroid City”, director Wes Anderson was not only able to win well-known actors, but also well-known musicians. Pulp mastermind Jarvis Cocker and samba singer Seu Jorge jointly contributed the song “Dear Alien (Who Art in Heaven)” to the soundtrack, which can now also be heard outside the cinema on the Internet.

In Asteroid City, Wes Anderson tells the story of a fictional desert town in the United States, where various travelers get stuck after a spooky experience. Represented on screen are among others: Scarlett Johansson, Margot Robbie and Tom Hanks. Jarvis Cocker and Seu Jorge can also be seen in smaller roles as members of a cowboy country band.

Seu Jorge previously starred in Wes Anderson’s The Deep Sea Divers, while Jarvis Cocker lent his voice to characters in Fantastic Mr. Fox and The French Dispatch. Together they perform the country-pop song “Dear Alien (Who Art in Heaven)” in “Asteroid City”, which fits perfectly with Anderson’s film style with its peculiar style. The director also co-wrote the soundtrack with British singer Richard Hawley and Cocker. The latter also contributed the song “You Can’t Wake Up If You Don’t Fall Asleep”.

The Asteroid City soundtrack, composed by two-time Academy Award winner Alexendre Desplat, will be available on June 23. The film itself has been in German cinemas since June 15th. Meanwhile, Jarvis Cocker is on a big reunion tour with Pulp.
