Association: Prices for Christmas trees remain stable

OSNABrück (dpa-AFX) – According to the association, the prices for Christmas trees will remain stable this year. “The price range will be about the same as in 2021,” said the chairman of the Federal Association of Christmas Tree Producers, Eberhard Hennecke, of the “Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung” (Friday edition). The reason is an exceptionally good harvest.

“The trees are a nice dark green with almost no drought damage,” he said. The summer months with little rainfall would have had comparatively little effect on the Christmas trees that were ready for harvest this year. “The taproots pull the water from much deeper soil layers,” says Hennecke.

But the situation is different with young plants that are only to be harvested in the coming years. “The drought bothered them. We may see the effects in the future,” said Hennecke./jbi/DP/zb
