In recent months, around 30,000 travelers have been refused entry to the EU at EU airports because their documents were found to be incomplete or because they may pose a security risk. The new biometric control system at the EU’s external borders, which I actively contributed to in the European Parliament, therefore appears to be certainly not an unnecessary luxury.
