Asser Asylum seekers work as a host on the train: ‘They are real bridge builders’

“An Algerian without a card started to swear. I solved it by staying friendly and talking Arabic. That gives a good feeling,” says Mohamad Eastern. Staying friendly is the magic word for him. “Sometimes it is difficult, but it depends on how you approach people. It is important to smile and give the traveler a nice feeling. But not always, because otherwise the person thinks you are lying out. Talking in Arabic can sometimes help. And I am now used to having to say things that travelers sometimes say.”
