She performed in France, Germany and Belgium but is currently the radiant center of musical in their own country Moulin Rouge! The musical. Keoma Aidhen, who grew up in Assen, knows his eyes on her. “It’s very hard work, but it’s fantastic.”
She was only a few years old and barely three turf high when it became clear that Aidhen would meet a career as an actress. From childhood she visited children’s performances, such as at the fence of the Dam in Ekehaar. In the backseat of the car back home, the musical sounds were once again inserted into the world. Her mother already had such a suspicion.
“I discovered that my passion and dreams were there,” she refers to acting and dance work, something she soon developed. After the successful completion of the Musical Dance course and dance teacher at the Lucia Marthas in Groningen, it became clear again what the future would bring her.
“Musical is top sport,” she says. But who is a performance Moulin Rouge! Attaching whether a look is taking the scenes knows enough. In the role of Courtisane Satine, Moulin Rouge’s signboard, she carries thirteen (!) Different costumes during the performance, which amounts to a sort of emergency-red show. “It’s really cool. Especially when everything goes smoothly.”
She is also attached to a swing that sinks down from the ceiling, to dive back into her familiar role after that landing. Up to six times a week, Aidhen is on stage of the Beatrix Theater in Utrecht, with a determining role in which she knows the spotlights on her.
Just before the year 1900, Satine is the big star of the Parisian nightclub Moulin Rouge. She falls in love with composer Christian (played by Martijn Noort), but the owner of the Harold Zildler (Carlo Boszhard) nightclub has taken something different. Satine gets entangled in a complicated situation and is confronted with a number of unwanted surprises.
Intensive and demanding, but at the same time a ‘dream role’, says Aidhen without a doubt. “It is also very special because it is one triple threat-Rol is. “That means: singing, dancing and acting, at the highest level and in the highest gear.” That makes it incredibly special. “
Aidhen has earned its spurs on the European stage in recent years. She entered various international stages, among other things for The Wizard of Oz In France and Belgium. Among other things, the Oosterburen followed Starlight Express and Disney’s Aladdin, A production that she also repeats on national soil.
Since September 2024 she is ready for perhaps the provisional highlight: Moulin Rouge! The musical. “It is going very well,” says Aidhen. “I have rarely participated in a performance where the room was filled in this way. I think we can continue for a while,” she concludes as enthusiastic as hopeful.
