The future cycle route between Assen and Groningen, De Groene As, will have four works of art by artist Marjet Wessels Boer from Beilen. The works of art with the name Speedmakers are colorful, round sculptures that are located at four places along the route. This gives the idea that the works of art move with the cyclist.
The works of art will be placed at the Lonerbult (Assen), the Vriezerbrug loading and unloading quay (Tynaarlo), the Meenrueg loading and unloading quay (Haren) and the Ketwich Verschuurlaan-Haren P+R route.
The Groene As is a new cycling route between Assen and Groningen. The route is an addition to existing cycling routes and an extension of the cycling network along the Drentsche Aa national park. The route is not yet in use because construction has been delayed due to heavy rainfall.
