Chipachinemaker ASML has achieved a record turnover in the past quarter and financial year. In the whole of 2024, ASML achieved a turnover of almost 28.3 billion euros, compared to 27.6 billion euros a year earlier. The company then recorded a profit of 7.6 billion euros.
The Veldhoven chip machine manufacturer expects further growth because there is a need for advanced chip machines for AI applications, despite Dutch and American export restrictions.
This year ASML is counting on a turnover between 30 billion and 35 billion euros. According to the company, this broad estimate has to do with uncertainties about the demand for chip equipment among customers who are not paramount in the development of chips for artificial intelligence.

ASML surprised with the large amount of orders for new chip equipment. In the last three months of the year, customers placed orders for a total of 7.1 billion euros.
‘Artificial intelligence is the most important driver’
“Artificial intelligence is the most important driver of our sector. It has caused a shift in the market that not all customers benefit equally,” says ASML CEO Christophe Fouquet.
In the prognosis, ASML takes into account the effects of new restrictions on export to China that the Netherlands and the US announced in the past few months.
Monopoly
The company has almost a monopoly on the most modern lithography machines that make very precise patterns on chips.
