With a huge primal cry, the release released and just after she won the Australian Open, Ashleigh Barty realized that she had not only fulfilled her own dream, but had fulfilled the hopes of the entire Australian nation. After Chris O’Neil won the tournament in his home country in 1978, Australian tennis fans craved new success and Saturday was finally the day. After 44 years it was ‘Down Under’ again that reigned in the Rod Laver arena.
