AS Roma lose away game against Fiorentina

AS Roma, the opponent of Feyenoord in the final of the Conference League, has suffered a defeat in the Serie A. The away match against Fiorentina was lost 2-0 to the team of coach José Mourinho.

The final score was reached in Florence after 11 minutes. Fiorentina took the lead after 5 minutes via the Argentine attacker Nicolás González, who converted a penalty. The penalty was caused by Rick Karsdorp, who hit an opponent on the edge of the box.

A few minutes later, Giacomo Bonaventura doubled the lead with a shot from the left.

Due to the defeat, AS Roma was unable to equalize with fellow townsman Lazio. Karsdorp’s team, which was replaced just before time, is now in 6th place and is competing with Lazio, Fiorentina and Atalanta for a place in the Europa League. Should AS Roma beat Feyenoord, the club also deserves a ticket for the Europa League.

For AS Roma it was the first game since reaching the final battle of the third club tournament in Europe. On Thursday, the Romans were 1-0 too strong for Leicester City. The final is in just over two weeks, on Wednesday 25 May.
