Artists let art roam. Residents and visitors of Bovensmilde can enjoy free art

The artists show their work in vacant buildings. Janneke Boer

In Bovensmilde, residents and visitors can enjoy free art. Three artists have joined forces to form a collective, the Kunstzwervers. Janneke Boer: ,,The intention is to fill empty buildings with art. In this way we provide some liveability and we also have the opportunity to show our work to a wider audience.”

The first building dedicated to this art is the old butcher’s shop in Bovensmilde behind the Poiesz. This shop window is filled with works by six artists, including works by Roelanda Bonder, Co Raatjes, Peter Bes, Jaap Bos, Gerard Molenaar and Janneke Boer.

Gallery

According to Boer, great plans are now being made: ,,It is also the intention to start a gallery in the future. We are looking for more artists for this.”
