The Drentse Landschap Foundation has become the owner of the former school building in Een, a national monument from 1877. The residents of the building have transferred the building to safeguard it for the future. The man and woman can continue to live in the former school.

These residents form the artist duo Haringa + Olijve. Nel Haringa and Fred Olijve bought the building from the municipality of Noordenveld and have lived in the former school since 1996, where they also made their studio.

Het Drentse Landschap reports that it is very happy with the purchase of the building: “The couple carried out a shell restoration in 2001/2002, which means that the exterior of the building has been well preserved. Some changes have been made to the interior over the years. installed, but for the most part the interior is still intact. The layout with a corridor and two classrooms has been retained, as have the beams and a beautiful cupboard wall.”

The artist duo also created a file on the history of the school building, a copy of which was given to Het Drentse Landschap.

The foundation has not disclosed what Het Drentse Landschap paid for the building.
