The construction of a new artificial turf field for the Weiteveense Boys football club will help with the long-awaited housing construction on the former C-field of the same club. Weiteveen and the municipality have been working for years to realize 21 houses for starters and seniors at that location. The first stone should have been laid in 2024, but strict noise and environmental standards are causing a delay.
By ‘nailing’ the existing main field into an artificial grass field, these plans are now one step closer. Artificial grass helps to limit possible noise pollution for the future residents of the c-field.
Another hurdle to be overcome is nitrogen. Because the Bargerveen, an adjacent Natura 2000 area, is sensitive to additional emissions, this should hardly occur during the work. This means that the project may only be carried out with electrical equipment. After several contractors were invited through a tender, CSC Sport emerged as the winner.
Because the installation must be carried out electrically, the installation is more expensive. Reason why the council is requesting an additional credit of 140,000 euros from the municipal council.
The housing plans provide for three detached houses, four semi-detached houses and fourteen terraced houses. The free plots are issued by the municipality itself. A project developer is being sought for the terraced houses who will purchase the remaining plots and build the houses.
It is expected that Weiteveense Boys will be able to use the field in March or April 2026.
