Art Rooijakkers collapses into a TV ravine after leaving News of the Day. He is now on the channel with a celebrity program, Survive Your Family, and that turns out to be really bad.
Four well-known families are separated in the wilds of Colombia in Survive Your Family. While half of each family remains at the base camp, the other half is dropped into the middle of the jungle. And Art Rooijakkers can talk about it all on SBS 6. Former channel boss Tina Nijkamp is really in shock.
Almost a parody
Tina, who was at the helm of SBS 6 for years, thinks it is extremely bad TV. “What is this? Who wrote those voice-over lyrics??? And even worse: who approved them?! This is almost a parody. ‘If your family is your salvation.’ Sure. What is this first game about? What’s the difference if you’re first or last? No idea.”
She continues on her analysis channel: “The worst part: this program could have been any other program. Total disarray. And what is the goal? No idea. Bizarre and incomprehensible show. If this has more than 485 thousand viewers tomorrow, I will eat my shoe. What a rare worthless show.”
Bad ratings
Well, how are the ratings going? “Given the quality of the show, it could not have been otherwise: Survive Your Family is a total ratings flop. Only 333 thousand viewers. And only 1.3 percent in 25-59 years.”
“What a drama for Art Rooijakkers. But why didn’t he intervene with the extremely childish voice-over texts alone? No, my shoes remain intact. And I wonder if this show will still be on the schedule next week. (…) It’s a total headache this show.”
Hopeless TV
Art is now stuck in the Talpa trap, according to Tina. “Malou Petter terminated her contract (after Nieuws van de Dag, ed.) and opted for no salary and uncertainty. She now presents the solid EenVandaag.”
She concludes: “Art stayed at SBS6 and continued to receive a salary every month, but now presents the most hopeless celebrity competition show of 2026. A leap into the deep sometimes works out better than clinging to certainty.”
