Art festival Watou connects art with the border village

After forty editions, the Kunstenfestival Watou is ready for something new. This time Koen Van Mechelen is the inspiration. With ‘Sense of Place’ he focuses on the relationship between the Kunstenfestival and the inhabitants of the border village.

Anchoring

The people of Watou have been talking about a far-from-their-bed show in recent years, while their village is flattened all summer long. This edition therefore focuses strongly on embedding. For example, in the village church, Ilke Cop presents ‘The Pillars of Watou’, a painting with ten women from Watou.

The Arts Festival runs until September 4 in and around Watou, and in the De Lovie castle in Poperinge.
