Weekend of Science

During the Science Weekend, children from 6 to 12 years old can discover the secrets of science. For example, during the Science Weekend, step into the world of the ancient province of Drenthe. It wasn’t just the dolmen builders that made this place special… For example, have you ever thought about how all those boulders ended up in Drenthe? Or how is it possible that reindeer hunters once lived here on an icy tundra? How did the dolmen builders manage to stack stones weighing thousands of kilos on top of each other? You will discover it at the Hunebed Center in Borger.

Flea market, children’s clothing and radio parts

Arrange your things, antiques, clothing or vinyl at the Flea Market in Eelde. On Saturday and Sunday you will find the market in the Flower Auction Hall Flowerdome, which has been held in the halls since the early 1980s.

The flea market only contains antique and used items and is held weekly until Easter Monday. This Saturday the Children’s Clothing Fair and the Radio Parts Market can also be found in the hall.

Lectures about Groningen families

This year, historian Beno Hofman will give three lectures about families that played an important role in Groningen, both within the Mennonite community and socially.

On Saturday afternoon he talks about the Leutscher family in the Mennonite church in Groningen. In his previous lecture, Hofman talked about the Mesdag family, and in November a lecture will be devoted to the Hesselink family. The photo shows the Hazewinkel-Meihuizen family, in 1929 for the Mennonite Vermaning. A lecture about both families will follow later.

Gronings Vuur plays ‘Tot op de Bodem’

The performance will be held in Blauwestad from October 6 to 21 Ad fundum played by Gronings Vuur. Ad fundum is a hymn and wake-up call in one, with the future of the Oldambtster Grond as its central theme. The Gronings Vuur team spoke with countless people from Oldambt for a year. How do they see the future of their landscape? What are they missing, how could it be different and who should participate?

All these stories are the basis of this musical story evening in which there are: Ad fundum is going. The evening starts with a procession over the Pieter Smit Bridge. Accompanied by the Oldambtster occasional choir and local dancers and wind instruments, we say goodbye to the ‘old Oldambt’. Art at Nienoord

The Carriage House, the Exhibition Hall and the garden of the Borg and Museum Nienoord in Leek are full of art this weekend. During ‘Art at Nienoord’, almost 40 artists show their most beautiful works in a special environment.

Visitors can enjoy hundreds of fascinating works of art, a glass of wine, a soft drink or a cup of coffee or tea, art books and of course the appropriate surroundings. In addition to art, the fair also offers demonstrations and lectures.
