Arsenal FC have reached the semi-finals of the English Football League Cup.
The Premier League leaders beat FA Cup winners Crystal Palace 8-7 on penalties on Tuesday; after 90 minutes the score was 1-1 (0-0).
Chelsea FC are now waiting for the Gunners in the semi-finals, the first leg will take place on January 14th at the Blues.
Mikel Arteta rotated to eight positions in the league compared to the recent 1-0 win at Everton FC. But Arsenal’s B team also dominated, but wasted a number of good opportunities in the first half. In the second half the game leveled off – until former Wolfsburg player Maxence Lacroix gave the home team the lead with an own goal (80th).
But Palace came back deep in stoppage time through captain Marc Guéhi (90+5). And so the decision was made on penalties, where Lacroix was the only shooter to miss.
In the second semi-final, Newcastle United with German national players Nick Woltemade and Malick Thiaw will face Manchester City.
