Arsenal’s football players have won the first match in the semi-finals of the Champions League against Olympique Lyon. In London, the title holder of coach Renée Slegers defeated the French team 2-1. The return match is Saturday, May 2 in France.

The visitors took the lead in the first half at the Emirates Stadium in London. German Jule Brand was passed the ball by former Ajax player Lily Yohannes, broke free and scored.

In the second half, Arsenal leveled thanks to an own goal by Ingrid Engen. Olivia Smith made it 2-1 for the home team in the final phase after fumbling by Engen and Lyon goalkeeper Christiane Endler.

At Arsenal, Daphne van Domselaar defended the goal and Victoria Pelova came on in the second half. Damaris Egurrola came into Lyon’s team in the second half for Yohannes.

In the other semi-final, Bayern Munich drew 1-1 against FC Barcelona on Saturday.
