Arrest team raided a house that had burned down, neighborhood suspects intent

The house on Waalstraat in Den Bosch, which became uninhabitable due to a fire on Friday evening, was raided by an arrest team last May. The police cannot yet say whether there is a connection. Research will have to show that. But local residents suspect that the fire was a targeted action. “We have the feeling that it was an attack,” said Linda, who lives down the street.

The police and fire brigade were notified on Friday evening around ten o’clock that a fire had broken out in a corner house on Waalstraat. The fire probably started in the backyard and spread to the neighbor’s house. The damage is also extensive in neighbor Mehmet’s house.

“I wasn’t at home myself, but people nearby heard a very loud bang and then a large flame started. The fire went up through the wood.” He and his family mainly have water damage and cannot stay in their home for the time being. “I’m sleeping with my parents tonight.”

Guns and money in the house
In May, firearms and a large amount of money were found in the same corner house on Waalstraat. A police SWAT team had entered the house. The police received a report that the 59-year-old man who lives there was in possession of a gun. The man from Den Bosch has now appeared before the judge, who sentenced him to a year in prison at the beginning of last month.

How the fire in the house started is still under investigation, but local residents suspect arson. “That raid happened in May and this again a few months later,” says Linda. “We get the feeling that it is an attack.”

Mehmet does not dare to say what exactly happened. He does worry. “I’m not afraid, I never am. But I worry about my family. And also about my neighbors, because they have suffered much more damage. They are your neighbors after all. And the fact that that child also has to experience this is really bad.”
