Arno at the top of Radio 1’s Classics 1000

The passing of Arno, now almost a year ago, and his ode to his mother, clearly still move many Radio 1 listeners. With ‘Wish you were here’ by Pink Floyd on 2 and ‘Martha’ by Tom Waits on 3, the stage looks just the same as last year. The War On Drugs push through to 4 with ‘Thinking of a place’. Nick Cave at 9 with ‘Into my arms’ and Nina Simone at 10 with ‘Feeling good’ are newcomers in the top 10. There are 536 different artists in the Radio 1 Classics 1000. That is 19 more than last year and 47 more than in 2021.
