Arminia Bielefeld is in danger of falling into the 3rd division

Arminia Bielefeld, who was relegated to the first division, is still threatened with free fall into the 3rd football league. On the 31st match day of the 2nd Bundesliga, the East Westphalians did not get beyond a turbulent 1: 1 (1: 1) against SpVgg Greuther Fürth at home, are still on the relegation place 16 and can even slip further at the weekend.

Bryan Lasme (17′) initially shook the stadium with his opening goal, but Branimir Hrgota equalized with a penalty kick (26′).

Both goals were disputed: Before Lasme’s goal, Bastian Oczipka had played the ball with his hand when it was conquered. Hrgota, on the other hand, was initially denied a penalty by Arminia goalkeeper Martin Fraisl – but because Fabian Klos ran into the penalty area too early, the penalty was repeated.

“We need a threesome to have a realistic chance,” said Arminia’s coach Uwe Koschinat shortly before kick-off after three defeats in a row.

With 22,000 fans behind them, the DSC started with a lot of pressure. Lasme’s lead, who kept his nerve in front of goalkeeper Andreas Linde, was well deserved.

Shortly thereafter, Hrgota fell on the other side in the penalty area, even the whistle was controversial. The Swede’s equalizer in the second attempt ended a spectacular quarter of an hour.

From then on, the game was disorganized, even after the break the fight determined what happened. The guests from Fürth were closer to the second goal.

It got emotional after Klos was substituted (71st). The captain cried bitter tears in Koschinat’s arms at the penalty he was guilty of retaking. A little later, Arminia’s Robin Hack hit the post (74′), Bielefeld’s supposed winning goal by Masaya Okugawa (90′) was disallowed for offside.
