Armie Hammer started the new year by looking back at the scandal that derailed his acting career. Hammer appeared on Christina Pazsitzy and Tom Segura’s podcast “Your Mom’s House” to talk about how he was shunned by Hollywood after a woman accused him of rape and several other women revealed cannibalism fantasies he shared with them had.
During the interview, Armie Hammer claimed that the timing of the scandal made it seem more serious than it was. “The world seemed to be falling apart, and people were just deeply dissatisfied with their own lives,” he said of the story that emerged during the coronavirus pandemic. “And then this raunchy story comes along where this actor wants to murder and eat people. And suddenly everyone’s like, ‘Oh, that’s so much funnier than focusing on the fact that I can’t leave my living room.’ And then more and more stories started coming to light.”
Cut the hell off your toe
Armie Hammer also said that several of his conversations with women were taken out of context, although he admitted that he has sexual fantasies about tying up women.
“I like the idea of you being completely mine,” Hammer remarked. “Yes. I can do whatever I want and you love it because you know you are mine. And this ownership thing, talking about it, is just fun. By the way, especially if you’re drunk or stoned or high and texting at night. As you say it, you giggle to yourself and think to yourself, “I’m going to fucking cut off your toe and keep it in my bag so I have a piece of you everywhere I go,” haha haha.”
He added: “If someone were to record someone’s bedroom conversations – especially when people are having a bit of fun together – and they would pick up on the shit they said, even if it was completely harmless, and take that somewhere else If you read it out of context, everyone will say, ‘You’re fucking disgusting’.”
“We don’t like this guy anymore.”
At the time, Armie Hammer said he was ‘in complete panic’. Because everyone in the press and in public turned against him. “I mean, to get a little serious. There was this kind of, let’s say, there was this mask that I didn’t really identify with. But everyone thought it was me. And that became kind of a safety net and identity for me,” he told the podcast hosts. “And then when that falls apart and everyone says, ‘We don’t like this guy anymore. We fucking hate him. “That’s tough.”
He continued: “I mean, dude, there were articles in the Punjabi Times about me being a cannibal. And so forth. I believe in March 2021 I was the fifth most searched person on Google worldwide. And it was all negative. You just stand naked in front of the world. And any of his preferences or perversions will be judged by the world. This is hard.”
Hammer announces his own podcast
During the interview, Hammer confirmed that he has reflected on his actions. “There are aspects of my behavior that I think didn’t necessarily come from the healthiest place,” he said. “Then there were aspects of my behavior that were simply expressions of my own sexuality. So I had to sort of comb through all of that. And find out what comes from the right side. And what a trauma.” He added: “I think somewhere deep inside me, subconsciously, I wanted to get caught.”
Hammer recently announced his own podcast. Which, as he said, he takes in his ‘tiny apartment’. And he’ll be back as an actor in Frontier Crucible, which he recently filmed with William H. Macy. ‘I wouldn’t say I’m back,’ he said. “[Aber] I’m working.”
