Arjen Lubach joins the people who think the right-wing SBS 6 newscast Nieuws van de Dag is a very wrong TV program. “It’s the wrong level,” sneers the joker from RTL 4.
Too much underbelly and too populist: that is the criticism expressed from the left on the right-wing TV news News of the Day, where Telegraaf star Wierd Duk more or less functions as a figurehead. Two progressive presenters resigned from the SBS 6 program last year, namely Art Rooijakkers and Malou Petter.
Rub into stain
While Art wisely keeps his mouth shut, Malou keeps rubbing the stain. The presenter, now working for EenVandaag, is very diligent in emphasizing everywhere that she is really not as right-wing populist as the program she worked for. Particularly at some inclusivity party, she kicked the show.
Malou is not very collegial. And not wise either. Due to her own actions, she is only remembered even longer as the former presenter of News of the Day.
Arjen lashes out
Arjen Lubach now also gently points out to Malou that she has really taken a wrong turn. She appeared yesterday in his program LUBACH during some item about the labor market. The satirist starts an old news fragment from 2024, in which we see Malou as a newsreader.
She says: “Gardener, hairdresser or bricklayer. These are professions that the labor market is eager for, but there have been a lot fewer registrations for the first year of practical education recently. This is because students in group 8 are assessed differently, but that also has a downside.”
Wrong level
Arjen then responds with a joke about Malou’s failed transfer to SBS 6. “So says Malou Petter, who was also at the wrong level for a while,” he says.
In other words: Arjen also wants to tell his viewers that he really thinks News of the Day is a very bad program.
