Arjen Lubach is back on TV after an extremely long Christmas holiday, but oh well: it doesn’t look good. He has once finished the poorly watched season premiere on RTL 4. “Not innovative.”
There will be even more doom and gloom for the late evening of RTL 4 in the near future, because Arjen Lubach’s moderately scoring program is back and the ailing RTL Tonight will therefore start later, which also does not do the viewing figures any good. TV authority Tina Nijkamp is calling on her analysis channel the alarm about this late-night drama.
Arjen disappoints
According to Tina, Arjen’s start is seriously disappointing. “Disappointment for Arjen Lubach. He has had the worst season start yet at RTL 4. Last September he reached 710 thousand viewers with the start, in March 2025 his first RTL 4 season start reached almost 1.3 million viewers.”
And yesterday? Peter van der Vorst does not want to hear it, but, Tina writes: “Unfortunately there were only 540 thousand people ready at the time. Wow. This will increase with postponed viewers, but this is just a bit disappointing. It is no different. Place 18 in the top 25. Below Time for Max with 560 thousand viewers.”
Not innovative
What explains Arjen’s poor scores? TV critic Victor Vlam writes X: “The Lubach season opener is more of the same. Fine for those who are fans. But no new parts or blocks. That should certainly be allowed in my opinion.”
RTL Tonight, which started extra late because of Arjen, managed to captivate only 365 thousand viewers. Talk show competitors Eva and Today Inside had 1.1 million viewers and Pauw & De Wit managed to charm 643 thousand viewers.
