Arianne Hartono flies out of Australian Open qualifications

TENNIS – Meppel’s Arianne Hartono has not managed to qualify for the Australian Open. In Melbourne, the American Hailey Baptiste was too big in qualifying: 6-2, 6-4.

In the first set, Hartono was immediately broken, making it 3-0 for the American after fifteen minutes of tennis. In the eighth game, Baptiste managed to convert another break point, winning the set.

In the second part of the match Hartono managed to offer more resistance. A break even gave her a 1-3 lead. But she could not hold on to that lead, after the 3-4 Hartono lost all games.

Due to the defeat, Hartono will not be there for the third time at the first Grand Slam tournament of the year. Last year she passed the qualifications, but lost in the first round to the American Shelby Rogers. And in 2022, a player from the United States also bothered her, Amanda Anisimova knocked her out of the tournament in the first round.
