Argentine art conquers Miami

In coincidence with the Miami Art Weekthe Art Basel Miami Beach celebrates its twentieth anniversary and will hold its renowned exhibition from December 1 to 3, at the Miami Beach Convention Center (MBCC). In what will be its largest edition to date, seven Argentine galleries will participate and there will also be individual exhibitions by Argentine artists such as Adrian Villar Rojas and Leandro Erlich.

The galleries Mud, Jorge Mara – La Ruche, Revolver, Ruth Benzacar, Floating Island, Herlitzka + Faria and Rolf Art, will take part in different sections of the event, which will be attended by 282 exhibitors from 39 countries. The artistic works of León Ferrari, Sarah Grilo, Rómulo Macció, Mario Pucciarelli, Ana Sacerdote and Kazuya Sakaiworks will be exhibited in homage to the precursors of Argentine art during the 60s and 70s.

In the section fair positionsvisitors will be able to observe the works of the Argentine artist Carlos Herrera, with a single show that revolves around ecstasy and torment, and by the Brazilian artist Ana Prata. In the Kabinet 2022 sector, together with 28 other international galleries that will present installations, works on paper will be enjoyed Sarah Grilomade between the years 1970 and 1990.

In the section Surveydedicated to galleries that highlight practices of historical relevance, Rolf Art will present “Parquedades, park scenes for an actress, video and music” (1987), created by José Alejandro Restrepo and María Teresa Hincapié. There will also be present Herlitzka + Faria with works by the artist Alice Herrero.

Among the highlights of the celebration, the fair will extend beyond the exhibition grounds with a cultural program in all the institutions of the spa city, where once again the autochthonous art stands out with the exhibition of Adrian Villar Rojas with the guest artist Mariana Telleríain the Bass Museum. The work “The End of Imagination” de Villar Rojas comprises specific installations and sculptures, while Telleria unites him with two sculptures that challenge contemporary notions that will remain on display until May 14, 2023.

As a finishing touch, also in Miami, the first individual exhibition of the Argentine artist will take place Leandro Erlich, “Liminal”which will bring together 16 iconic works from the last twenty years and which will be inaugurated on November 29 at the Perez Art Museum of Miami. The work “Swimming Pool”built to be seen from above, but also from inside, as if visitors were swimming, will remain until September 4, 2023.

“Liminal”, the title of the exhibition at the Pérez Art Museum Miami refers to the indeterminate threshold between spaces or experiences, a state rich in the possibility of entering a new perception, which is what viewers often find in the work. from Erlich.

In this way, the famous seaside resort in the state of Florida recognizes the validity of more than a dozen national artists from all eras, positioning and recognizing Argentine art with charm and admiration.
