BUENOS AIRES, 6 Feb. (askanews) – The Argentine government of Javier Milei has announced that he will prohibit the transitional transition surgery and interventions on minorsauthorized by a 2012 law with the approval of the judicial authority. The presidential spokesman Manuel Adorni denounced “the interventions to which children are exhibited represent a serious risk for their physical and mental health, because they involve an interruption of the maturation process”.

Argentina, no to gender transitions to minors

The government also decided to change the law on gender identity and to ban hormonal treatments and body adaptation surgery in minors under 18 years of age.

«These interventions to which children are exhibited represent a serious risk for their physical and mental health, because they involve an interruption of the maturation process. In addition, in many cases, the effects of these treatments and surgical interventions are irreversible ».

And no to prison transfers

The government of Argentina has decided to prohibit prison transfers based on gender changes. This means that if a condemned person finds himself in a male prison, he will no longer be able to ask to be transferred to a female structure exclusively on the basis of his identity of self -certified genre “.

“This decision will allow the establishment of a much more reasonable system that will guarantee the safety of all prisoners and will end the illusions transmitted by the harmful gender ideology”.

The 2012 gender identity law was approved under the peronist government of Cristina Kirchner and has allowed access to “total and partial surgical interventions and/or complete hormonal treatments to adapt its body (…) to its own identity perceived”. For minors, the text emphasizes that the intervention must be carried out with the approval of the bailiffs and subject to “validation of the judicial authority”.
