‘Apprenticeships’ should give young people without a diploma more opportunities on the labor market: “Win-win for young people and company”

To help young people without a secondary education diploma find their place in the labor market, VDAB will launch a new instrument from 2024: apprenticeships. Through an apprenticeship, a young person without a diploma is given the opportunity to acquire the necessary competences in the workplace. The youngster then takes a so-called EVC test (Elders Acquired Competencies). Those who pass, obtain a professional qualification that, according to Flemish Minister of Work Jo Brouns (CD&V), offers extra opportunities on the labor market.
