On the proposal of State Secretary Struycken (Legal Protection), the Council of Ministers agreed to the nomination for the appointment of two new members to the Human Rights. It concerns Mrs. K. Naganathar and Mr. A. Pahladsingh.
Mrs Naganathar will be appointed on 5 May 2025 and Mr Pahladsingh on 1 June 2025. Both are appointed for a period of three years and will judge discrimination complaints that citizens submit to the college. They also monitor – together with the chairman and other college members – the substantive strategy and agenda of the organization.
The Commission for Human Rights is the national and independent institute that supervises compliance with human rights in (Caribbean) Netherlands. The Commission does this through research, advice, education and information. In addition, anyone who feels discriminated against, in education or as a consumer, can report this or submit a complaint. In individual cases, the Commission finds whether there is discrimination in accordance with the equal treatment legislation.
