On the recommendation of State Secretary Szabó of Digitization and Kingdom Relations, the Council of Ministers approved the appointment of Mr Gerbert Kunst as the new representative of the Netherlands in Aruba, Curaçao and St. Maarten. The appointment starts on May 15, 2025.
Mr. GPG (Gerbert) Kunst is currently director of international policy at the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW). He was previously Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in San Francisco and director of European and international affairs at the Ministry of Economic Affairs. Mr. Art studied law in Leiden and also has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a Master of Public Administration (MPA).
The representation of the Netherlands in Aruba, Curaçao and Sint Maarten (VNACS) has branches in Willemstad, Oranjestad and Philipsburg and represents the Netherlands in the three countries. The representative is at the head of this and plays a crucial role in maintaining a good relationship with the three autonomous countries. The VNACS contributes to the creation of Dutch policy for the countries and to its implementation. The VNACS also offers help and assistance for Dutch people in need and coordinates the management of assistance from the Netherlands at major crises. The representation performs its duties in good cooperation with all four countries in the Kingdom.
Until the arrival of the new representative, Mr. SJPL (Saskia) De Reuver will observe the role of representative in Aruba, Curaçao and Sint Maarten from her role as director of Kingdom Relations/countries at the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations.
