Drs. A. (Araya) Sumter becomes Director General of Social Security and Integration at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment (SZW). The Council of Ministers has approved the nomination on the proposal of Minister De Jonge of the Interior and Kingdom Relations. The appointment takes effect on April 1, 2024.
Araya Sumter has been Director of Employee Schemes at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment since June 2021. Previously, she was director of Individual Advocacy at the FNV. She previously held various management positions at ANWB and Veilig Verkeer Nederland, among others. She is also a member of the Supervisory Board of the Youth at a Healthy Weight foundation.
Araya Sumter obtained a Master’s degree in Public Administration and Organizational Science (management of public issues) from Utrecht University, and studied Psychology of Organizational Change at Radboud University in Nijmegen.
This appointment was made through the procedure for the top management group of the General Administrative Service.
