Drs. MC (Marten) van den Berg becomes Director General of Agro at the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality. The Council of Ministers has approved the nomination on the proposal of Minister De Jonge of the Interior and Kingdom Relations. The appointment takes effect on January 1, 2024.
Marten van den Berg was until recently ambassador to India. He has held that post since August 2018. Before that, he was Director General of Foreign Economic Relations (BEB) and Deputy Director General BEB at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He previously held the position of pDG BEB, also director of Economic Diplomacy and Transition, at the then Ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation, and at the then Ministry of Economic Affairs he was pDG BEB and later also director of International Business.
Marten van den Berg studied General Economics at Erasmus University Rotterdam.
This appointment was made through the procedure for the top management group of the General Administrative Service.
