Mr. HJJ (Henri) Lenferink will become acting King’s Commissioner in the province of Gelderland. At the proposal of Minister De Jonge of the Interior and Kingdom Relations, the Council of Ministers has decided to nominate him for appointment. The appointment takes effect on October 2, 2023.

Mr Lenferink was mayor of the municipality of Leiden between May 15, 2003 and September 1, 2023. Before that, he was an alderman in the municipality of Arnhem for more than 9 years.
On Wednesday, September 27, the minister spoke with the Provincial Council of Gelderland at the provincial government building in Arnhem about nominating Mr Lenferink for appointment as an acting King’s Commissioner.
This appointment follows the temporary resignation of Mr. JCGM (John) Berends MPA.
