On the recommendation of the Council of Ministers of Curaçao, the Kingdom Council of Ministers has nominated Mrs. Ruthsella Agueda Jansen for appointment as acting Governor of Curaçao. Ms. Jansen replaces the current acting governor of Curaçao, Ms. Michèle Russel – Capriles, whose term of office expires on September 1, 2025.
Ruthsella Jansen was born in Curaçao and was deputy director of the Maduro & Curiëls Bank in Curaçao until her retirement in February 2024. She previously held leadership positions at various government departments in Curaçao.
Mrs. Jansen has fulfilled various social functions. For example, she was honorary consul general of Canada for Aruba, Curaçao and Bonaire and was a member of the complaints advisory committee of the Common Court of Justice of Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten and Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba.
The acting governor is appointed by Royal Decree for a term of 6 years.
