Apple announced version 16 of its IOS operating system last week. News service The Verge has drawn attention to the fact that many of the new features of IOS are familiar from Google’s Android operating system. In total, there are at least ten features already familiar to Android users.

One example is the new option in IOS 16 to add several stops on the way to a certain destination in the Maps application. A similar function has been found on Android since 2017.

Another IOS novelty familiar from Android is the function of the Mail application, which enables the cancellation of a message within ten seconds if the user notices that he has sent it to, for example, the wrong user. Since 2018, there has been an option to cancel a message in Google’s Gmail service.

iOS 16 also has a new option to add subtitles to videos, audio files or conversations in real time, which can help people with hearing impairments, for example. A similar function has been found on Android since 2019. It also enables text to be translated immediately into several other languages.

Other IOS innovations familiar from Android include: adding haptic feedback to the keyboard, shared photo libraries, a screen that stays on all the time and making the fitness application (Apple Fitness Plus) available not only for Apple Watch but also for iPhone users.
