Residents of three apartments in a flat on Smetanalaan in Assen can go home again. Last night and this morning the carbon monoxide alarm went off in the homes, but after an investigation by the fire brigade, the apartments were declared safe.
After a measurement by the fire brigade, an increased CO value was actually measured in two of the three homes this morning. Residents then had to leave their homes and the fire brigade started a major investigation.
No cause for the report was found in the apartments. Firefighters then searched the apartment building from the basement to the roof, also without results.
To ensure that no carbon monoxide was produced in the three apartments in question, they were completely closed off. New tests detected no new carbon monoxide during the day. It is still unclear where the increased CO value comes from.
Housing association Actium will replace the carbon monoxide detectors in the apartments in question.
