Panic after fifteen seconds of intense turbulence: “I’ve never felt so close to death”

Severe turbulence caused panic on a flight from Madrid to Buenos Aires. Suitcases thundered from the hand luggage space, passengers flew with their heads against the back of the seat in front of them or even the ceiling. The nightmare lasted only fifteen seconds, but left a deep impression. Twelve were injured. Two passengers suffered fractures to the nose and sacrum, respectively.
